Where Tauranga’s Coast Meets Aotearoa’s Wild Heart

I’m Zoe Sizemore, a Tauranga-based artist with a deep love for New Zealand's native birds, flora, and fauna. My work is all about capturing the spirit of our landscapes, from the tūī’s glinting feathers to the windswept coastline and the hidden treasures of our bush. Every brushstroke is my way of honouring the beauty we’re lucky enough to call home, and a gentle reminder to cherish and protect it.

If you’d like to experience my art up close, you’re welcome to visit my home gallery in Papamoa,  just get in touch to arrange a private viewing.

"I now have 3 pieces of Zoe’s art in my lounge, all bird art. They are our “talk pieces” because visitors often comment how beautiful they are and we get talking about Zoe’s passion for birds and nature and how talented she is. I absolutely love all my pieces."

My Story

I graduated from Auckland University’s Elam School of Fine Arts in 2005. My work has always been shaped by the natural world whether that’s sweeping landscapes or the creatures that inhabit them. In recent years, I’ve been drawn to our native birds. They carry a powerful symbolism, much like the canary in the mine, and are a way to share deeper meanings within my work. For me, painting is about creating a pause a chance to reflect on the beauty and significance of the natural world, and the part we each play in protecting it. Purchasing a piece is an opportunity to have a talking point in your home.

Drawn from the beauty of the natural world and the hope for tomorrow, my work seeks to speak of our fragile bond with the earth, urging reflection and care amidst the turbulence of these uncertain times
